Readibus in conjunction with STAR (the Supporters Trust At Reading) and Reading Football Club are delighted to announce new services for supporters of the Royals.![]() Reading FC has over 100 wheelchair spaces for wheelchair supporters and many more for people with ambulatory disabilities (i.e. those with walking difficulties, the hard of hearing, partially sighted or learning difficulties). Why not join the regular 50 or so supporters who already watch the Royals at the Madejski Stadium. The Stadium won the National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS) award for the best facilities in the South in 2001. For more information about NADS including a detailed Guide on disabled facilities at ALL football grounds, check out www.nads.org.uk. Two initiatives have been developed dealing with home games and away matches. Firstly, for Home Travel, Readibus provides a "dedicated" bus which picks passengers up from home, delivers them to the ground, stays at the ground (thus allowing the driver to stay and watch the match too) and then drops passengers back home. This service is booked on the normal Readibus telephone line up to a week in advance and can take up to 3 people remaining in wheelchairs and 6 other people. In addition, should there be more demand for home games, we will look at making further “dedicated” services available – at the moment any additional passengers/supports can still book on the normal “dial-a-ride” service. Readibus can be contacted on 0118 931 0000. STAR in conjunction with Readibus are also now offering an Away Travel service to the majority of games this season. This service is being subsidised by STAR so that prices charged will be comparable with those provided on “official” away travel. The bus can again take 2-3 wheelchair passengers (staying in their wheelchair) plus transfers/helpers and other passengers. As an added benefit, when you book this service, match tickets will be arranged (subject to availability) so that one price will be payable for transport and actually getting into the match. Because of this, there will be no refunds for failure to travel unless replacement passengers can be found or the ticket’s can be returned to the away club. As the number of tickets provided by the away club is variable, to ensure you get a ticket, bookings must normally be made at least 7 days in advance of the match (preferably earlier if possible). Late bookings can still be made depending on availability. For passengers living in the Greater Reading area, you will be picked up and dropped off from your home address. Other passengers will be picked up and returned to the Madejski Stadium. |
